The Grand Canyon!

My sister Patti and some of her extended family planned a trip to The Grand Canyon to hike a 17 mile hike. Reed didn't want to do it because he is doing his iron man in two weeks. I enlisted my running buddy Charisse. We made a road trip out of it. We drove on Friday, hiked on Saturday and drove home on Sunday. It was a quick and exhausting trip, but so amazing and wonderful.
This is a shot of the whole group.
We ended up starting our hike around 6:00a.m.. I put this shot in because there is still snow on the ground and it was pretty chilly when we began hiking.
It was so fun to spend a day with Patti. I've decided we don't see each other enough.
A cool shot I took the night before, from the South Rim.
We hiked down the South Kiabab Trail all the way to the bottom by the river, and then we went up the bright Angel trail.
Me on the way down. Patti was gracious to let me use one of her walking sticks. Even though I said I didn't need walking sticks. I kept slipping and even fell once. The stick really helped me to feel more stable.
King of the hill, Dave
Patti and I soaking in the river at the bottom. The water was supper icy, but really helped us to feel better.
Charisse and I at about mile 13. We stopped at a place called Indian Gardens. It was this lush Oasis in the middle of the hike. We loved all the pretty dogwood trees and all the amazing blossoms.
My friend enjoying the beauty and the stretch on flat ground.
Patti and Dave at the end. What a great day, spent with fun company and seeing some of Heavenly Fathers amazing art work. My heart was full of joy at being able to accomplish such a rigorous hike and to be able to witness such magnificence.

Hoppy Easter!

I arrived home from EFY and Easter was just a few days later. Because, I was so worn out, I didn't really take many pictures. My parents were even in town and I didn't get a shot of them. We actually had a wonderful day chillin in our jammies and watching General Conference. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Will you go to prom?

We went out to the garage the other night and we were surprised to see Heathers car covered in post-it notes. She was asked to the prom by her good friend Nick. I thought this was so cute!

Young Women's Broadcast

Since we have lived in the Fresno North Stake every year the YW's Broadcast was combined with the camp Kick-off. There were good and bad things about this. It combined two events and made not so many stake things to attend. It usually ended up being more camp than broadcast and was a little wild.

As a new presidency we decided to separate the two and try to establish a new tradition. We held the broadcast on the same night as the actual event and we added a mother daughter Ice Cream social at the end. It turned our really nice. We had a pretty good turn out for something new.

This is me with my amazing presidency. I feel so much love and support from all of them. They helped to make a great evening.
Paula with cute Natalie
Lauren with her peeps.
We decorated with an Easter theme. We had my good friend Ellie help with everything. She added her wonderful touch to make it all look so cute. I don't have a shot of Ellie, so sorry.

The Land of EFY

If you would all like to know where I've been. I've been lost in the land of EFY. I was called about six months ago to be our stakes YW president. Part of this calling is to plan our stakes Youth conference. The conference is going to be the week of spring break, which for us is the week before Easter. It has been a privilege to work with the wonderful Youth leaders. Emerson, Heather(my sweet daughter) and christel.
EFY takes months to plan and it is crunch time now. The joke in our house, is Reed calls me to check on things and asks, "What are you doing?" The answer is usually I'm working on EFY stuff (handouts, folders, t-shirt orders, work day, leadership training, senior dinner, packing lists, dance handouts, chaperone training info, placing youth in groups)
I hadn't posted for awhile. I thought I would let everyone know what I am doing? Above is a picture of our stakes seniors. These amazing youth will lead at EFY. Even though they lead, it is a lot of work to help them be prepared. Those of you who have worked with youth will know what I mean. Also, above is the amazing logo for our t-shirts and folders. I am so excited for this wonderful event. It has been a lot of hard work, but all worth it.

Aloha

Reed had a meeting in Maui, we decided to take the family and make a trip to our favorite place on earth. We landed on the Island and I can't really describe it but I just had this overwhelming feeling of joy! The sun was shining and all was right with the world. A friend of mine texted me to ask how the trip was going. I just had one word "Heaven". It was so nice to get away from the gloomy cold weather. My bucket was filled.

The girls were able to do a pool scuba dive and a shore dive. It was really amazing! We say sea turtles and a lot of amazing tropical fish.
