My favorite Day

Heather and Lauren were out of town, so we decided to take a day trip up to Yosemite to ride bikes. If someone asked me to describe my favorite day it would be to ride bikes in Yosemite. It is Heaven for me. I grew up going to Yosemite and it is one of my favorite places.
During our trip we rode over to Happy Isles and hiked to the bridge of Vernal falls. There wasn't very much water but it was still very pretty.
Reed and kylie. Kylie is on a little caboose bike. It makes for a good work out for Reed and Kylie doesn't get to tired.
Me riding Heathers cute beach cruiser. What a fun, fun, Day.

Simply the Best!

Last night(Sept 25th) we had our North Stake Beehive Conference! The Theme of the conference was Simply the Best. Above is a sample of the invitation that I made.
This is our Stake YW Presidency. Jen, Joelle, Stephanie and I. We have very busy callings, but it is so fun to work with such fun and amazing women.
Lauren, Reagan, Stephanie and Noelle. We decided to do Cookies on the stick for the center pieces. It was fun because it was a cute decoration and a yummy dessert! I spent the day before making 95 cookies. I didn't mind to much because the dough was so yummy.
Lauren and I having fun at the conference. Lauren has loved being a Beehive and she had a great time!
Jen did a class on fashion. She taught them about dressing for their body type, current styles and of course to dress modest. As leaders we are always reminding the girls of this. Hopefully a few of them listen.
Stephanie did a class on organizing. What ever Stephanie does is always amazing. She made a mock bedroom and talked about ways of having your room and your life be organized.

Kylie with one of her good friends Jessica! They were so excited on the first day of school when their teacher had seated them together.
Kylie is doing cross country at Garfield. This is she and her friend Megan.
Getting ready for the race!

Kylie is also part of the spirit sqaud at Garfield. Last Saturday she cheered at the football carnival. It was fun and hot.

Lunch with Friends!

Today was such a great day! I was able to have lunch with my two dear friends Amy and Becky! They treated me to a belated Birthday lunch! I felt very spoiled! What would life be like without friends and Yummy lunches!

Hike with friends

On Thursday Sept 11th my friends Kim, Charissse and I went on a hike up by Dinkey Creek. Kim decided to take her dog Sadie. Sadie loved being in the mountains. She was in the water and loved running all over.
Charisse and I at the water fall. We had the best day being in the mountains and girl bonding!
The hike to the falls took about 45 mins. It wasn't to hard. It was mostly walking and climbing on rocks. We made the mistake of trying to take a different way back to the car. The way home took about 2 1/2 hours. At one point we were sliding down the mountain in a rock slide. We were dirty and scratched and even had a few encounters with Poison oak. We decided we had just experienced a life lesson on staying on the path. We made the crazy decision to veer of the path because we thought it would be easier. I'm sure I will use this in a lesson in the future!

Trip to Kiribatti

This summer our family took an amazing trip to visit my parents on their mission in Kiribatti(pronounced Kittabus). This is an Island in the Pacific and part of the marshal Islands mission.
They live on the campus of Moroni High school. Their mission is to help train the teachers on the campus. My dad is also part of the mission presidency and takes care of the 30 Elders on the Island.
Cute mom and dad, Elder and Sister Winegar.
This is right behind their apartment. the view is very pretty. Their are cute little hermit crabs everywhere
Elder and sister Winegar

The vanwag fam bonding in Kiribatti. We loved being together and we loved seeing grandma and grandpa. Their mission is very remote and can be hard. Their example of service has been a huge blessing to our family.
Eating chicken legs that grandma Sharon prepared! Yummo! It is very hard to get food. They can get chicken legs, but not any other parts of the chicken. The Islanders mostly eat fish and rice.
This is how most of the people live. Some have a little bit nicer places and they are made out of cinder-block. The people live very simply.

We went on a long walk one day and this was a little school that we saw. Can you see the little table on the floor and the chalk board at one end. I think this is a little different than clovis schools.

Dad with the zone leaders Elder Earl and Elder Nelson. My parents have loved working with the elders. They are so cute. they are hard working and dedicated. My mom loves being a mom to them. She is always making them cookies for their P-day!
This family did a botaki dinner for us. I think it is similar to a luau in Hawaii. We all sat on the floor and ate. They had us all eat and then the people ate. The elders said this is what is like when you eat at peoples houses. You eat and then they eat. You need to eat what is given you or you offend. We tried sea snails and all sorts of mystery food that night. The people were so loving and generous. We have a thing or two to learn from them.
We stopped in Fiji on our way home from Kiribatti. This was also a great time. This picture was take at a really pretty garden.
